|
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 11:22 AM by nostamj
We got our first extension and have added two dates to the current run.
Tuesday 8/31 @ 7 Wednesday 9/1 @ 9:30
We re-open on Tuesday 8/17 with performances 8/18, 8/24, 8/25. All performances @ 9:30.
"advance" quotes from upcoming reviews:
Wildly funny and irreverent! A timely, outrageous musical satire that rips into today's headlines and takes the audience into an off the wall "no sin zone!" - John Hoglund / BACKSTAGE
Surprisingly entertaining! It's fresh, funny and politically astute with lyric parodies that will have anyone who's terrified of 'Dubya' applauding wildly. - SHOW BUSINESS
A first-rate cast with great singers who are expertly directed. As far as Bush-bashing goes, they may be 'preaching to the choir,' but it's a choir we can't afford not to join! Don't be scared by the fact it's a 'political revue' - it's smart, funny and moves at a lightning pace. - David Hurst / NEXT

I wish that it could continue in some way... I think that it would be a great tribute.

3. Talk about bringing someone back from the dead... |

seeing this post resurrected was just weird. I felt very lucky to see the revue with Andy Stevenson at my table (lots of laughs when the song about voting machines was sung) and to go out to a cafe afterward with Jeff and Andy and Bev and arquat, among others. It was a very special night and I think of both of them with fondness. Jeff had said, BTW, that getting more commercial with the revue was problematic because it used so much copyrighted music to which he wrote new lyrics. There were allowances in the copyrights for revues but putting out an album or getting more play beyond a revue audience was too expensive and hard to get permission for.
