What would you think of this idea for New York State: |
My BIL said he'd never move to New York because of our high taxes. What if we gave people moving into the state a tax break for say 5 years? Something to keep people here long enough to see what a great place this is to live.

2. It's a question of investment. If we can attract people to stay for five years, |
will that be enough to convince them to remain afterward? Maybe one year tax free. We do it for companies, why not do it for people?

3. In many cases companies get tax break some up to 15 yrs then just leave.... |
they pay PILOTS payments in lieu of taxes which in the end don't amount to what is needed. Getting taxes under control especially property taxes & school tax reform would go a longer way to keeping people here. Perhaps a homesteading program for inter-cities might be something to explore. I live in a suburban community thats getting hit hard.

People who already pay the highest taxes in the country should not subsidize the taxes of others who'll be sharing their services.
