I voted today (I choose That One ;-)), and just wanted to remind everyone that if you cast a vote for a straight party ticket, you must also cast a separate vote for president. I'm not sure if all states do it this way, but NC does. (I seem to remember some talk about this in '04.) Anyway, just wanted to remind everyone - the helper where I voted today was reminding everyone of this, but on November 4 they may be so inundated that mentioning this gets lost in the shuffle.

1. Don't forget the judges |
|
After you vote for Obama and do the straight ticket, you need to flip the ballot and vote for the judges. They are no longer part of the straight democratic ticket. They're nonpartisan elections.
Here are the democratic judges running this year:
Judge Jim Wynn (James A. Wynn, Jr.)--over 16 years appellate experience and active nationally in judicial standards work. He's also a Navy JAG judge. I worked for him for several years and is an excellent choice.
The other Dem judges are:
John Martin--Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals--great person and an excellent jurist
Sam Ervin and Krisin Ruth are both dems and are running for the same seat.
Cheri Beasley, John Arrowood, Dan Barrett and Suzanne Reynolds are the other dem candidates--correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm looking at the voter guide now and admit to not being too up on the judicial candidates. This info has helped cut down on my research... aaah.

4. Thanks for posting this... |

I was just about to start a thread on the judicial candidates, but here it 'tis. Based on Barrett's personal statement in the voter guide (his use of 'conservative'), I'll need to dig deeper.
Welcome to DU.

2. I voted early today too - for "that one" - they had printed some colored flyers and put them.. |
|
...in the voting booths telling people that they have to vote for President separately. I hope they do that on Nov. 4th.
