AT&T and Time Warner Cable are forcing legislation through North Carolina’s statehouse that would eliminate competition and allow them to take control of broadband across the state.

On Wednesday, the House Public Utilities Committee will meet to vote on a bad piece of legislation that prevents towns and cities from building Internet networks and connecting state residents who can’t get Internet access.

These two giant companies are pushing this bill (SB1004/HB1252) to protect their industry monopolies while squashing innovative local efforts to give users a choice of providers.
