Today is the 90th birthday of former UNC President Bill Friday. The reception in his honor is this afternoon from 4 to 6 at the Carolina Club / UNC Alumni Center. The public is invited. I posted about this further in General Discussion; thought all of DU should know about Bill and Ida Friday.

Would be nice to get the main post on the Greatest page.

1. Was a nice event for the Fridays.

Very appropriate. As Doug Dibbert, president of the General Alumni Association and another UNC'70, said, "No invitations were sent, but everyone was invited. And everyone came." Certainly a representative sample came. Waiting in line to personally extend our best wishes were those who had known Bill and Ida since the 1940's and those who had never met them in person before today, from the rich and powerful to those who are neither.

By chance, I noticed myself, unc70, in the background of one frontpage photo of the event.
