|
I found this announcement on my daily job hunt. Would be really good for someone w/ non-profit experience and wanting to work on DP issues. JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Director of the North Carolina Coalition for a Moratorium The North Carolina Coalition for a Moratorium is a partnership of organizations and individuals across the state that supports reforms to our capital punishment system. Innocent people have been sentenced to death in North Carolina. Until substantial reforms are enacted and implemented, we will continue to run the risk of wrongfully convicting and executing innocent people. The current suspension of executions should be sustained until we eliminate the risk of wrongful convictions and executions. The campaign is non-partisan and membership includes both Democrats and Republicans. Members include attorneys, politicians, faith communities, non-profit organizations dedicated to criminal justice reform, victim's rights, restorative justice, et al. Over the past several years, the NCCM has grown significantly in strength and stature. Recent victories including banning the death penalty for people with mental retardation, the creation and implementation of Indigent Defense Services, the enactment of open file discovery laws and, most recently, the passage of the NC Racial Justice Act, have moved North Carolina to the forefront of capital punishment reform in them U.S. The growth and energy of the coalition have fueled our current effort to ban the death penalty for persons with severe mental illness. To that end, the North Carolina Coalition for a Moratorium currently seeks a Director to manage and direct the coalition’s advocacy campaign. This is a full-time position with benefits. The Director is accountable to the Executive Committee of the coalition and is responsible for supervising the staff of the North Carolina Coalition for a Moratorium.Full Announcement here: http://ncmoratorium.org/Announcements.aspx
