I just got a great deal on a room

4. i am driving,

will rent a car from budget from friday evening until monday morning for about $70 - the deal on the room i got from hotwire, which you have to commit to and pay before you find out what you get. so the deal was a 3 1/2 star room in Bethesda/Silver Spring for $69. with the fees etc it came to $82 for the night of the 30th. after asking around i determined that the area would be local to the metro and went for it, and got the Hyatt Regency Bethesda, which sits on top of the metro! :) the other plus is that their parking is not astronomical - for $10 i'll drive straight to the hotel (i had been planning to leave the car at the park and ride at Franconia station), leave my bags with the concierge, and hit the metro to the mall.

my son's coming down from Philly and we'll celebrate his 27th birthday while we're in DC. i wish it was already the end of October i'm so excited.
