Saw your other post. Have you decided just where you are moving? The Triangle and the Triad are each fairly large and spread out. Even within the Triangle, someone like me (40+ years in Chapel Hill) will still only know well some areas. In my case, I know Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and west and central Durham quite well, but what I know of Raleigh and Cary is rather spotty.
There are a lot of DUers in the Triangle, a goodly number in the Triad.
