NC DUers Going to D.C. Sept. 24 March/Protest Sign In Here |
|
Info for DU gatherings formal and informal can be found in the District of Columbia forum. It will just be nice, over the next month, to get a sense of who will be there and what they are up to.

7. Same here, Outer Banks Head. |
|
If I got the train, it would be in the middle of the night, and everyone would be pretty much asleep, until the train pulls into the station, and I really need my car. Hope to see you and other DUers there.

33. Carteret County Young Dems have a bus...seats available |
|
50$ for the trip...we leave Morehead City at midnight on Friday and return late Saturday night/early Sunday am..
hard trip but well worth it..
since we have about 14 seats left, we are offering opportunities to pick up people in New Bern, NC and in Selma near I95.
If anyone is interested, please let me know..we really really want to fill this bus!!!

5. I'm taking the train with my family. |
|
Not sure if we will be able to do any get togethers though. My kids are 5 & 6. I think most of the gatherings will be more adult oriented although I guess I could be wrong.

8. Hissy, it is not that bad a drive... |
|
We go up every July 4th. If we were driving I would offer to share the drive. Then again, that would mean me or hubby sitting in the back seat with the kids all the way!
Did you see my post about the bar-b-que I am throwing on Labor Day weekend? I was hoping you might come.

Labor Day weekend. (See, I'm making the trip twice in September!) I've been meaning to email you. We have planned this for a while - usually do it before the semester starts, but couldn't this summer - so I'll miss out on the BBQ. We'll get together eventually, maybe in Washington! My brother and his girlfriend are going to Washington, too. Not sure if they are riding with me, but they will be rooming with me. I have a room on Capitol Hill for friday night and one in Crystal City on Saturday night, on the Metro line near the Washington National Airport (some people call it the Reagan Airport, I'll pass, thank you).

14. Hi demgurl! I am taking the train with my family as well! |
|
My boys are 8 and 10, and my husband will be with me. We will join the peace train in Greensboro. I am just hoping my boys do not get motion sickness. :(
I hope to see you on the train! :hi:

I assume we will be boarding at the very same time. We have two boys 5 & 6 and I am also bringing my husband. I assume at 3 AM, or so, on next Friday morning there will not be many like us around. It should be easy to spot each other.
I think your boys should be fine. If they are like mine, they are very resilient.

that is so very cool. I am looking forward to meeting you and many other DUers. PM me with more info if you would like. My boys will be thrilled to have some peace kids with them on the trip! It will be easy to spot us in our Peace and anti-bush Attire!
And yes indeed it is 3:00AM! I am putting the boys to bed at 6:00 pm the night before and hope they sleep some on the train.
keep in touch and the countdown begins!

so probably around 2:30ish. My partner gets off of work in Charlotte around midnight and she wants to drive me to the station--so I'll wait on her to pick me up at home in W-S and then leave for G-boro.

I got a great flight deal on Independence Air, $118 round trip (including all taxes). I was tempted to ride the train with Cindy, but it goes through here so late at night that I'd be wiped out the next day.
