1. But oil companies are recording record profits, every quarter, they
wouldn't be gouging us and infating the prices simply because we have oil companies (BushCo) running our country would they?

2. Wow, those cities are pretty much all in the South
Guess BushCheneyCo. figures it can play no-lube poundass with those Red State voters, eh? Wonder how many of those Chevy Suburban with Bush Cheney bumper sticker-driving folks are having second thoughts now?

3. lmao
 "no-lube poundass"

I remember in Fort Drum in 1997 a friend of mine from Tennessee went back home on vacation. He said that the gas station from around where he lives sold gas for 99 cents a gallon, when he told me that I was shocked. He had one of the last Ford Broncos sold...he babied it.

4. This is a heavily gas-dependent area.
So much sprawl, and so much long commuting. We're completely over a barrel, if you'll pardon the phrase.

If I could snap my fingers and change one thing about this area, it would be to create a DC Metro/Atlanta MARTA subway system that serviced the entire Triangle, with plenty of shuttles to take folks to where they needed to go from the various subway stations.

That would be SO cool--go from Hillsborough Street to Franklin Street in 15 minutes on a high-speed underground rail line? From Ninth Street to Glenwood South in 15 minutes? Etc.? Awesome. Sure, it'd probably cost billions, but it would be SO cool, and if it was available tomorrow, I bet usage would be much higher than expectations.
