Asheville-Where to have a car evaluated before I buy it. Am looking at

cars to buy, and I want a mechanic or someone like that to go over it and see if there are any major faults. I don't have any idea who to go to for something like that. Just because somebody says they are a mechanic doesn't necessarily mean they can/will provide this service. Any ideas? I need help NOW :)

I have gotten the VIN of one car that I am interested in and am going to do a carfax search on it. But that doesn't tell you the gory details on a car.

1. Any garage/dealership which does State Inspections....

...should be willing to do this for you.

It's a fairly common request;
they do the same inspection (for the same price)
but simply don't change the sticker.

2. wizard's den

If they are still open, Wizard's Den was the best car repair place I have ever been to. Used them several times when I lived in Asheville but that was 15 years ago.
