Monday, Jan. 22 “Peace-In” at Rep. Sue Myrick’s Office at 2:00 pm located at 6525 Morrison Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28211 We will gather on the sidewalk in front of Rep. Myrick’s office. This event will feature the CODEPINK Women For Peace truck, driven by peace activist Zanne Sam Joi (see
http://www.codepinkjournals.blogspot.com). The journey started in California on January 15 and continues on to Washington DC for the massive Mandate for Peace March on January 27 (see www.unitedforpeace.org). Zanne has the "Walk In Their Shoes" (WITS) exhibit in the truck. We will display the exhibit on the sidewalk outside Rep. Myrick’s office. WITS features a collection of shoes, representing Americans and Iraqis who have died in the war in Iraq. We will also display "Real Face of War" - large photos of casualties of war.
A "Peace In" delegation will enter Rep. Myrick's office at 2:30PM while the exhibit continues outside. Our goal and focus of this action is to obtain a public commitment from Rep. Myrick to vote to DEFUND the war against Iraq in this upcoming budget appropriations vote. Thus a "Peace-In", which we hope will continue in Charlotte and in D.C. until she makes this commitment.
Bring more shoes for the exhibit (especially needed are baby and children's shoes, women's sandles and heels) if you have them. Bring friends & family and dress warmly. Wear some pink if possible.
