Democratic party director Vern Thompson is leaving his post to go work for Ed Schultz's national radio show through the Jones Radio Network.

Any word on who will replace Vern?

Democratic Party director resigning to work for talk show

The director of North Dakota's Democratic Party is resigning to go to work for a radio talk show.

Vern Thompson says today he's leaving at the end of the year. He will become program director for "The Ed Schultz Show."

Schultz is a liberal talk show host. He's based in Fargo and has a nationally distributed afternoon show. Schultz also has a morning talk show on Fargo's KFGO Radio.

Thompson has been the state Democratic director for almost four years. He took the job after losing a race for the state Public Service Commission in 2000.

Thompson has run twice for the PSC. He's also served in the North Dakota Legislature, as a House member and senator.
