A little old but pretty good. (I haven't read the Forum in a while, just going through old articles and opinions)

A recent edition of "The Kiplinger Letter" projected 2005 job growth rate for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. It projected a three-way tie for last place between Ohio, the District of Columbia, and North Dakota. The politically correct thing to do would be to either ignore this observation or to attack it.
The word spin from the top in Bismarck is that North Dakota has turned the corner. People in North Dakota are really nice. The people in control of North Dakota state government kept it in last place and were rewarded with a two to one majority in the state Legislature and a governor who won by a landslide.
<snip>According to Kiplinger, the following federal projects are on the chopping block: Eliminating estate taxes for families with a net worth of in excess of $7 million is apparently more important than the following hit list; missile defense projects, disaster loans for small businesses, research grants for the National Science Foundation, research grants for the National Institute of Health, agricultural conservation programs, commodity price supports, highway safety grants, mine reclamation and rural housing aid. Will any of that help North Dakota turn the corner? We didn't hear much about those proposed cuts during the last campaign.
It is no wonder that North Dakota sends Democrats to Washington. They are needed to save us from ourselves!
Teddy Roosevelt once said, "To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."
