(Fargo) Forum Editorial: War mom's critics get the spurge |
|
Edited on Mon Aug-15-05 10:43 AM by markus
LEAFY SPURGE: To the blowhards and hired guns attacking the character and sincerity of a mother who lost a son in Iraq and wants to talk to President Bush...no one should impurge her motivations for questioning the President's policy.
www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm?id=100157§ion=Opinion.
For those not from around here Leafy Spurge is a noxious weed. They had out Prairie Roses (thumbs ups) and Leafy Spurge (thumbs down) in the editorial column every Monday.
This is a very conservative, family owned independent newspaper. While they dismiss Sheehan's call for an immediate withdrawal, they take her critics (including the General Manager and lead talk-host of the AM station they own, who is a Limbaugh wanna-be) out to the wood shed. This is a fantastic statement given the source.

Good job that they wrote this. Fargo has its share of progressives, but I am surprised that the Forum would write this because the paper is conservative. There is hope. (I emnigrated from Fargo yrs back)

We are out in the opening and organizing through an organization called Prairie Progressives. While North Dakota is sinking deeper and deeper into the red state miasma, there's is still some hope for Fargo. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PrairieProgressives/42

That is the way every conservative should look at the situation but today's conservatives are so far up George's ass that they think no one has a right to voice a disagreement.
On the same page but unrelated to the Crawford thing, I am confused by this: "PRAIRIE ROSES: to U.S. Attorney Drew Wrigley of Fargo and his staff for responding quickly and forcefully to defense attorneys’ contention that Alfonso Rodriguez Jr.’s ethnicity was factor in the Justice Department’s decision to seek the death penalty."
Um, since when does ND have the death penalty??

He's going to be charged federally, due to the kidnapping and crossing state lines.

that went right over my head when I read it! I knew ND didn't have the death penalty but when I skimmed that and saw "death penalty" I thought, "now when the hell did that happen?"
Doh!
