1. If Hoeven runs, the only person I think could beat him is Pomeroy.

But Pomeroy's already stated he has no interest in switching from the House to the Senate.

A lot of my friends want to see a re-match of the governor's race in 2000 when former AG Heidi Heitkamp lost to Hoeven. IIRC Heidi was leading in most polls until she revealed that she had breast cancer. She's been mostly out of the spotlight since then.

I honestly don't see a newcomer beating Hoeven. He's been winning re-election with 70+% of the vote because we haven't been able to find someone who can really lead the torch for the party in North Dakota.
