The debate was awful, the PD article irresponsible... |
|
Guess it might not really matter becoz Strickland looks like he has an insurmountable lead, but I tho't it interesting that the PD article this morning left out the most salient points of Blackwell's rise to riches, which includes taking advantage of an affirmative action initiative that set aside a certain percentage of radio station licenses for minorities, yet he is against afffirmative action; and that he owns stock in companies that are in clear conflict of interest and so-called platform....
BTW, just learned about a new movie "All the President's Men," Exec. Producer James Carville, about the life of Huey Long in Louisiana where Carville is also from.....Looks from the trailer he spared no expense. I am going to try and go see it today.
I just heard and saw a clip of Blackwell from the debate. How does someone so obviously incompetent and nuts rise to the level of power that he has? Two of my Republican friends were (forced) to show up at a rally for him this weekend. What are these powers-that-be people thinking, what have they been thinking!

1. I am hoping that Strickland has VERY LONG |

coattails. I am also hoping that as we approach mid October that Strickland will say EMPHATICALLY that he needs to have other Democrats with him in government so he can truly TURN AROUND OHIO. Jennifer Brunner, Cordray, Dann, Sykes. It's a great slate of candidates.
I have been handing out a great lit piece with all of the Dems listed on it w/ their website. I think we have to emphasize that people need to vote the ENTIRE Dem ticket.
The movie is, All the King's Men. I want to see it this week as well.

5. I havent seen the Dem lit piece yet |
|
but I sure am glad to hear it's out there coz we got the one from the R's today.
Plus, after I was bemoaning and obsessing on the last debate, I saw Blackwell do an excellent interview with public television. I disagree with him on every single issue, but he actually appeared lucid and reasonable and very calm --TOO CALM FOR MY LIKING--so then I started getting paranoid about the stupid polls.
Like what you hope about coattails, I hope about the polls, but, ya know, it's just too early to rely on them , especially when you see all the undecided numbers.
I think the only thing Dems have to hang their hats on right now is Brown's high rural numbers (TheBorealAvenger reported on this the other day), and my only concern about that is that he makes sure he gets out to enough rural locations. If he does, it may be Brown's coattails, not Strickland's that get us in.

2. The article on the Front Page about Blackwell was |
|
well researched and presented the facts without trying to spin them one way or another...
Actually a well written piece of Journalism...

Hell even I could beat the Black guy. He doesn't have a chance in hell of winning but we have to jump on his ass and bring as many votes to our side as we can. I was waiting for him to tell us he was a Jew or Catholic. That would be his last lie and if it gets worst he may need Taft to help him out. Not our asshole, the fatass. The dead one that fucked every union worker in the USA.

All this "he said-she said" so-called "journalism" is bullshit.
Somehow, journalists these days have been brainwashed into thinking they are "fair" when reporting the so-called "two" sides of the issues.
Number 1) and I apologize, (I probably should go to hell for this, because you just happened to trip over one of my MAJOR pet peeves, WHICH IS THIS): in today's increasing technological society, there are rarely only two sides to an issue. To begin with.
Number 2) opinions are like assholes; everyone has one. Journalists, when I went to Kent State, were trained to report on INFORMED facts and opinions. Even if writers are so compelled to include the idiots and crazies' opinions, dontcha think maybe they should footnote and even maybe highlight INFORMED facts and opinion. Goes for editors double.
Nothing personal. I have been increasingly aggravated during this campaign. We Democrats are just too damn politically correct and over-analyzing sometimes. Now we're getting smug, and if we do, we'll lose. AGAIN.

7. Hey, poli speak, when did you |
|
attend Kent State? I transferred there in 1985, graduating in '90. It had a really good journalism program at that time, as I recall.
I moved to Rapid City, SD, last year, from Painesville (near Cleveland), but my son, parents and most friends and family are still there so I like to keep up.
I sure as shit hope Blackwell doesn't get anywhere near the governor's mansion, it's really all over for the state if he does. I don't ever intend to go back, that's for sure. The job market here is so much better, along with almost everything else, including politically. Yes, it's still conservative, but it's a much more bearable type than those who are ruining OH and running the state into the ground. And at least I have one Dem senator and our lone congress critter is a great Dem.
