Trust me, I'm not looking for Chema to win. But I have to hand it to him. He definitely took up the mantle, and carried it well in the short time he had. I'd like to see more of him. I just hope it's not a total rout tonight.

7. Numbers are all over the place |
|
Channel 7 had them each at 50%; MSNBC had Turner 50%, Chema 45%; CNN 55%, 45%. Regardless, I think this is a very respectable showing for Chema and local Dems. It could be a LOT worse.
7 interviewed Turner, and I do think he's sweating a little.

6. now is the time to start working on that race for '08 |
|
I don't know if Chema is the right person in the long run, but whatever the case, it's time to identify someone who can run with that ball and sock it to Bush's Bobble Head Mike Turner.

8. Serious question -- Who would you like to see? |
|
When Studebaker stepped down, I said here that maybe we should just let Mike run unopposed so that we could focus all of our attention on finding a strong candidate for '08.
Who could be a contender?

9. a non-layer, real person |
|
who is working class.
Stephanie was a decent candidate and is a wonderful person. But I think she was still a little green in the show business department. That comes with time.
I think a non-party apparachnik is much more desireable than some butt-plug who has been playing the game.

because of his stance on impeaching bush but my long-time dem neighbor is chema's treasurer and worked with him for many years and thinks very highly of him.

He knows which way the wind blows. He got a clear message last night to disengage his proboscis from Mr. Bush's nether regions. :D
Mike most likely will not have the hold on the 3rd District, even as gerrymandered as it is, as Tony Hall did. If we find the right candidate, he'll be done in 2008.
