Mother Found Competent To Stand Trial In Murder By Burning of Her Children

A West Carrollton mother accused of starting a fire that killed her two children was found mentally competent to stand trial. Heather Silverman is accused of setting the fire last July.

The blaze killed her 4-year-old son Mikel and 4-month-old daughter Keylee.

At the time of the fire, Silverman's husband, Doron, was being investigated on charges of sexually assaulting Mikel. He was later convicted of gross sexual imposition and is serving a five-year prison term.

Heather Silverman is scheduled to be back in court later this month.
