Is there work to do in Ohio for Obama that doesn't involve canvassing? |
|
I posted this in GDP but I thought I should post it here as well.
I live in Ann Arbor, MI and contacted Obama headquarters in Toledo about volunteering over the next week. Unfortunately, the person I talked to said they only need people for canvassing. I am not going to go into the reasons, but I would really like to do anything (licking envelopes, driving things around, data entry, etc) other than canvassing. If anyone here knows of any groups or people that need help doing non-sociable things for Obama, let me know.

is focusing on canvassing as well. The phoning is done through the internet so you could do Ohio calls without leaving home. I am with you on the door to door stuff. I took a neighborhood but I'm not real hot on it. I did sign up to help at the event at OSU in Columbus on Wednesday. Not sure what that will entail. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I guess the days of lick and stick are gone. Most of the labels are printed at the printers so that saves a step or two. Peace, Kim

I did some work for Kerry at the Democratic Headquarters that did not involve canvassing, although that is what most of the ground troops do. They did have a phone bank, but I mainly worked on sorting brochures and stuffing envelopes and doing general office stuff. Campaigns can always use office help -- why they would discourage you (as it sounds like they did) is counterproductive, IMO.
A well-organized campaign staff should be able to integrate whatever help people are willing to provide.
