Went to the Obama Dayton rally -- almost. |
|
Nutter Center, just off the Wright State University campus in Fairborn, seats roughly 17,000 people for basketball, and probably a few thousand more than that for concerts. Its actual size is roughly comparable to UD Arena. We got there a little before 5 p.m., and the line to get in stretched clear around the building. There was no parking to be found. None. Not even in distant lots about a half-mile or so up by Ohio 835, which leads to 675. Shuttle buses were running from those lots, and those were absolutely packed. People were walking up from the far lots, some with kids (good to see!), so it was pretty clear Obama was going to be speaking to a packed house.
While it was disappointing not being able to see him, it was really, really gratifying to see the turnout. I'll catch him on his next swing around.
If anybody was there, I'd be interested in getting a full report...

I couldn't go to either the Cincy or Dayton rally, due to work. :-(
I read on the Dayton Daily News site that people were lining up outside the Nutter Center for the evening rally as early as 9:30 this morning... no wonder you couldn't park!
Awwww AOD... :-(

3. I was in the running for tonight's debate tickets |
|
A Cleve State Student (who could care less about politics) put her name in the lottery just to win the tickets for me, it was supposed to be my birthday present.
She hasn't called me yet, hope is waning, I think I outta luck :-)
