"They are tentatively scheduled to appear somewhere downtown at around 1 p.m.," said Mayor Carty Finkbeiner, who spoke to FOX Toledo News Wednesday evening from Denver, the site of the Democratic National Convention. "I say tentatively, because things can always change."
Toledo City Councilman Michael Ashford also confirmed that the Illinois senator will be in the Glass City. The councilman said Police Chief Mike Navarre and his staff are preparing for Obama's visit, his second to the Glass City this year. Sen. Obama's previous visit to Toledo was in February before Ohio's March 4 primary. The Illinois senator spoke to over 15,000 at the University of Toledo Savage Hall.
Obama's Ohio campaign team said the Illinois senator and his running mate will hold an invitation-only event at the Toledo-Lucas County Library downtown branch. Their main topic of discussion will be about the economy.
Obama and Biden will campaign in Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania on a bus tour after wrapping up the Democratic National Convention. Their bus tour is dubbed "On The Road To Change" and in addition to a stop in Toledo, the bus will be in Dublin, a suburb of Columbus, Saturday afternoon."
