In "the good old days" now was past the time I usually shut off the television and escaped. |

That has been impossible since having worked as a multi-county coordinator for Democrats in Ohio in 2000 when the Supreme Court stole the Presidential election away from the voters.
So, now dear friends, if you are looking for a diversion, go online and order a copy of Whatever's Fair: The Political Autobiography of Ohio House Speaker Vern Riffe (copyright 2009).
I read the introduction by former Governor Richard Celeste, last night, who in the very first paragraph mentioned my former Congressman, the Honorable Don Pease. Things have changed a lot in the years since he retired, and now he is deceased, and it makes me sad and frustrated. Term limits, for one, have totally screwed up any chance for anyone knowing what's going on at the state level, except Tom Sawyer from Akron and Joe Kozuira from Lorain, both who got screwed over by their own party but came back to get back where they belong (at least on the D side; don't keep track of stupid R's anymore)/\.
Anyways, the book is out there; I am just getting started, and will probably use this post as a thread to talk about what's in there.
I am an excitable girl, that's the only apology I can give.

Vern Riffe's middle name was Goebel, named according to the wishes of his grandfather, in honor of William Goebel, a Democrat shot to death in a disputed election for Governor of Kentucky in 1900.
