Congratulations, Fellow Ohioans. You've Elected A Buffoon. |
|
Here are a few selections right from the horse's (ass') mouth (and bear in mind, ALL of these are from a SINGLE news release).
"Tom Charles fears nothing. Tom Charles loves the flying wheel." (What???)
"The greatest men in history made terrible mistakes. I will make some terrible mistakes, OK? I say my prayers everyday to not just be flying out somewhere or … but we are here to really serve this public. And the minute we start messing with politics, we lose."
"There’s no pay for play or any of this other nonsense that has hung around state government since Moby Dick was a minnow."
"I find myself tripping over the ant hills on the way to the pyramids."
"We have so many stupid rules and regulations that prevent us from getting the best people to come in here. You just can’t believe it. And I blame it on all of you, all this transparency and conflicts and all this other stuff." (Darn that transparency stuff!!!)
"Now if you get sick, and your disease gets worse, and worse, and worse, I would suggest to you, you get a better and better doctor. But today if you get sick under the governmental rules, and all the political correctness, and all the open sunshine and all this other stuff, you get a worse doctor. This is something we have to think about over time."
Nice to see that the leader of the Ohio Democratic Party nailed him on his B.S., though: "Before his hand has even touched the Bible, John Kasich has repeatedly turned back the clock on transparency. His disdain for open government should be a cause of concern for all Ohioans, whether they voted for him or not. On behalf of all who believe in openness and transparency in government, we would like to apologize to Gov.-elect Kasich for being an anthill on the way to his pyramid."--Chris Redfern

Kasich will make Taft look like a saint. The real problem is all branches of Ohio government come January 10, 2011 will be controlled by the republicans. The corporations in Ohio will have a field day at the expense of the people. It will be interesting to see what the State looks like in four years. From what I see our schools will be de-funded, the environment will be further trashed and corruption will reign supreme in the capital and throughout the state, oh joy!
:banghead:  :bounce:  :scared: :puke:
I just wish I was closer to retirement so I could get the hell out of Ohio.

with AmeriCorps that ends next August, but when that's up, I may be hitting the road. Kasich has been overtly hostile to my field, libraries, and I have a terrible feeling that he's going to start dismantling the best libraries in the country

4. Yes. Ohio's libraries are great |
|
I don't know how they compare with other states' libraries, though.

5. on an individual level |

there are better; Seattle has a fantastic system, for example. But as a statewide network, they really are the best. The library field considers it the mecca for working in libraries (at least for now...)
And Columbus Metro and Westerville have won awards recently, as well as Cleveland libraries

Cruise downtown on a cold winter day. Hangin' round. Get a coffee at the Arcade.
