He voted against drilling last time. We need him again. Please contact any group you're involved with and get some calls into his office. Vote due on Wednesday. http://www.lightupthedarkness.org/blog/default.asp?view=plink&id=524

I almost feel like letting him vote for it & using that to kill him (figuratively speaking) in '08.
I'll call on Monday; I've got some other issues to pick with him.

I really think this is a Dem challenge though. Break our spirit sort of thing. Prove the environmental movement has no support, is out of touch, all of that.

He just got off the phone with their DC office and they said Smith would not support the drilling.

5. Now if only Gordo was as interested in preserving old-growth forests... |
|
...but that would mean pissing off the lumberjack vote. Won't ever happen.
Sen. Peapacker seems to come up with one or two leftward paeons to make himself less repulsive to people who have a vested interest in voting him out, but he remains very careful not to alienate the local resource extraction agro-industrialists. It amounts to little more than political position play, since he still caucuses with the repukes and supports 90%+ of their agenda.
Last time around it was ANWR and gay rights. ANWR is probably still a solid move for him, but I betcha he ditches the gays this time. Smith is a cold calculating bastard, and we'd be better off with him long gone from the halls of government.

6. he's between a rock & a hard place |

if he votes w/the repugs, which as you pointed out he does 90+ percent of the time, he'll piss of Oregonians. If he votes w/the Dems, he pisses off dumbya. I say it couldn't happen to a more deserving guy. I hope he twists himself in knots.

Call Gordo anyway. I'm sure the White House and the Fristoids are twisting his arm on this.
