Does anyone know much about Susan Castillo? |
|
Would she be a viable candidate for the U.S. Senate against Gordon Smith in 2008?
It seems that Smith has lurched to the right, despite positioning himself as a "moderate." If Oregon goes Democratic for the presidency in 2008, it seems that there would be a golden opportunity there to simultaneously knock off Smith, as well.

1. I don't think she's capable of knocking off Smith |
|
Don't get me wrong, I like her.
I think there is only one person in Oregon right now who is politically capable of knocking off Gordon Smith, and that's Peter DeFazio. And, his congressional seat and position in the House might be too much of a risk for him to run.
That's my two cents.

2. I agree with that. Susan used to live in Eugene at one time |
|
and was a news person at one of our local stations. She was very active in politics here. I like her a lot. But Smith seems very entranced to me. I agree about Peter but doubt that he would risk his seat. He is the best IMO. He was targeted by the Pugs in the last election and I was surprised at the support for the Pug. He seemed a lying wimp to me. I don't think those people realize what a great voting record Peter has.
