Well, anyway, I was impressed to actually recieve a response to my letter within 30 days. (My letter was actually mailed 4/19 & his response is dated 5/12 but I just got it a couple days ago)
I was inspired to write to him and Blumenauer, & Wu. RE: WMD, Iraq, diverting of funds because DU got me all riled up.
Here's a nice paragraph:
On february 2, President Bush announced that he had decided to support and independent investigation into prewar intelligence on Iraq. Unfortunately the President not only hand picked the members of the commission to investigate his own Administration, he has also explicitly prohibited his commission from looking at how his Administration used intelliegence in the build-up to the war. He also has denied the commisision the ability to issue subpoenas, a basic tool required by any legitimate ineverstigation. These issues make it plain that comprehensive, genuinely independent inquiry is still needed.
I guess he's got Shrub's number. Well, it made me felt good that somebody actually responds!

1. His office is usually pretty good about that |

If the Democrats can take back the Senate, Wyden will be much more influential. That would be a good thing.

4. bad timing this election cycle |
|
there are like 19 Dem senate seats up for election and 15 Rep seats. Since the raw number of seats up for grabs slightly favors the GOP, this most likely wont be the election cycle for that to happen. The next election cycle may be more promising. Historically the party in power has lost seats in off year elections. So it's an interesting situation. President Kerry and minority Dems in congress, or....

I don't have the letter he wrote back to me on outsourcing but he has a great record on outsourcing, trade...
of course the demos (as well as most politicians) are sorely lacking on illegal immigration)...
and most seem oblvious to the use of H-1B and L-1 Visas to bring in foreigners and have the American worker train them and then get fired, which is another immigration issue...
so all demos need to get moving on illegal immigration....
but I'd still give him a "he rocks" vote.
the Republican Gordon Smith is positively horrendous horses ass.... and I hope all stops are pulled to get him out when he comes up for re-election. Complete multinational corporate paid for voting record.
