So tell me about the Bend anti-war movement |
|
I'm thinking it's gotta be pretty big!
Am I correct?

1. I wouldn't think so compared to other west coast cities |

I haven't spent a ton of time in Bend but it doesn't seem like an activist type of town. There seem to be a lot more right-wing and "moderate unaffected" types in Bend than West of the Cascades. I would think there would be a good core antiwar group but probably an equally sizeable pro-war group.
I may be totally off but that's my observation from spending a couple of weeks a year there.

2. I've heard that they are out there. |

I live north of Bend. I meet conservative, moderate, and progressive people when I'm out and about. I don't know about party membership. I know that there is a car in the parking lot that sports a bush bumper sticker; another that supports a kerry sticker. I'd say that the bend area, while more conservative than the west side of the cascades, is pretty eclectic. There is room for growth here.
