The first thing Gordon Smith did when he became Oregon Senate prez was |
|
to block every one of Barbara Roberts' nominations for state "commissions." Just to prove he could. His explanation? "We're politicians. That's what we do." So, what's so "obstructionist" about blocking a SCOTUS nomination that would tilt the Court far to the right and potentially consolidate the power of an already-overreaching Executive Branch (that was elected thanks to the more moderate SCOTUS of 2000)?
Just had to vent.

1. El Gordo is a complete puke |
|
He even has the repuke superbland hairstyle. I had thought that the suicide of his son would help humanize him, but nevermind. He's a puke through and through.
Thank GOD for Ron Wyden, a true patriot and advocate for working folks, women, the poor, elderly, etc!!!

2. I actually think he's a nice guy on a personal level. Just a puke when it |
|
comes to politics. I've heard from people who know him that his son's death just blew him away and he's never really recovered. He still hasn't lost those right-wing political instincts, though.

3. Sorry, typical Republican |
|
Just months before that he went to a food bank in Eugene and was spewing a line about people not really being hungry and that perhaps food banks enabled people not to work hard enough. And his youth legislation was always focused more on punishment than assistance. Until HIS kid committed suicide, then he went on the Senate floor and cried for money. Just typical. Nothing is ever real to Republicans until it smacks them right upside the head. And after suffering that personal crisis, he STIll can't carry that empathy over into the lives of other people in need. A nice personality makes one a sociopath, not a good guy.
