So I saw Rep. Darlene Hooley today |
I went with a neighbor to her "office hours" in Wilsonville. It was my first time to see my Rep. so I didn't know what to expect. After listening to her talk about what she is working on and what her plans are for the near future, she had a question and answer period. I had been working on a question in my head all week, so I raised my hand and asked her about impeachment possibilities. I thought it was her duty to represent us and knowing that Bush has admitted to an illegal activity, why weren't the Reps in Congress doing their job? Understanding of course that the Dems are a minority. She expressed her frustration at not being allowed any power in holding hearings, etc. She said that the single most important thing we can do is vote in November. Only if we take back the House are we ever going to see that happen.
I'm glad I asked and I'm glad she knows that I expect her to participate in the impeachment process should we gain the majority back.

1. Hopefully... she'll act on it when the situation presents itself... |
but don't expect her to lead the way, or vote for it during crunch time. She certainly wasn't thinking about her constiuents when she voted for the bankruptcy bill, and has disappointed me time and time again with the way she sides with the DLC branch of our party.

2. She's a bit of a DINO, but she's in a tough district. |
Let's hope she can hold onto it in November.
