Ashland's mayor, John Morrison is currently living in Talent, in violation of the city charter. He states that he's living in Talent, because he's on a fixed income and his girlfriend, former Talent Mayor Marian Telerski, "has a bigger TV set." Morrison has an address in Ashland that is no more than a mail drop. This arrangement has apparently been going on for years, until Morrison's wife found out and divorced him 2 years ago. Apparently Morrison put his Ashland mail drop address as his residence on both his voter registration and his Oregon driver's license. This appears to be fraud, and there is growing sentiment that Morrison should be stripped of his post as mayor, pay back the monthly stipend he was given as mayor and pay back his fully paid healthcare that he also received as mayor.
Morrison's bid to unseat CW Smith as Jackson County Commissioner appears to be doomed. Charges of nepotism have been raised in the hiring of his girlfriend by the Ashland Parks Department.
