Yesterdays issue had that tired old letter that has circulated on the internet for months comparing the combat deaths in Iraq with the number of murders in Detroit and then goes on comparing the Iraq war casualties with all of Americas past wars, all unprovoked and started by presidents that were Democrats.
I'm sure that you've all received it, as has everyone with a computer except, evidently, the person that screens letter to the editor for the local rag. I e-mailed them a letter to the editor pointing this out which I hope they will publish.

The e-mail is pathetic. It's not just K-Falls, though, trust me. I "did time" in Grant County for several years, and could not believe what I was in the midst of. Somewhat better north of you in Deschutes County, where the Dems are just starting to crank up the volume. We can do it! And...

2. I hope I'm not the only one

that points this out to the editor. The lady that sent it in didn't even give attribution, just sent it pretty much verbatim and signed her name to it. I pointed out that I felt she couldn't think of anything good to credit Bush with and had to plagiarize an internet letter. And that I hoped that she could now think of something original to say about him.

4. Medford veterans speaking out

I joined a group of veterans yesterday responding to Bush's speech to the National Guard Convention. In doing some research for that event I discovered that only 97 National Guard soldiers were killed in Vietnam. As of yesterday we had lost 110 guard soldiers, 7 from Oregon and two just this week. When over ten percent of the fatalities in a foreign war are from the homeland defense force, something has gone terribly wrong.

Glad to have another Oregonian on board. Good to hear about the Medford vets group. Interesting fact that so few NG died in Vietnam. You are right--something is terribly, terribly wrong. Bush should be profoundly ashamed of himself, but it seems he is incapable of feeling shame or regret about anything he does. Keep up the good work there in beautiful southern OR--I'm trying to proclaim the message over here East of the beautiful Cascades.
