to be honest, Fuck Harry Reid. When he puts teeth into the Filibuster, and makes people stand and talk or give it up, then I would go for it. In the mean time, Harry can take a hike. Its not like we have the magic 60 that we need to protect.

That one email dampened my enthusiasm so much. WTF.

Damn, I picked a good place to move to for my first snow storm in 25 years (West Slope Sylvan area)...

I think I'm stranded in the house for a few days (no chains, very little "warm" storm gear wear)...

I still don't get how we get a special name for this. Its a itty bitty snow storm. This is what its like half the year in a lot of places. I was out in sandals and driving was actually pretty good. I only saw one person spinning tires. We will see what tomorrow holds. I may wear socks for the first time in 3 years, if the snow gets over an inch or two.

Clarification: Insufficient cold weather gear that can suppress brutally freezing winds ... I have nice warm clothes, but not enough to stop these winds from freezing my arse ... Windchills are hitting 5 Degrees ....

There are very few people here in Hillsdale wearing sandals .... (Live people at least)

I dressed and went out this morning to take a bus to work, but I only got a few yards in the roaring ice winds before I turned right back around and went back home ....

Hell with it: I am stocked up with everything I need for a few days, so I am not going to worry about it ...

It really depends on whereabouts you are I think... When I see three or four veteran reporters *complaining* about the West Slope being more like a "ski slope" or something like that trying to report from the overpass there (about a mile away from where I live), I don't think this is an "average" Portland event from the sounds of it. At least not the prolonged cold that's projected through the rest of this week, which will keep this weather with us for a while instead of having it melt off as a "novelty" event.

Had I even been here for a while and got a winter snow suit to go up in the mountains periodically, I'd be better off. I have some coffee, but I'm not well stocked just yet, so hopefully I can get to the stores later this week. I certainly won't starve or freeze to death (unless we lose power here maybe). I'm a bit worried about leaving my cat here for a few days next week without the fireplace running while traveling down to L.A. visiting family for Christmas holidays. The heater thermostat doesn't seem to be working very well here now.

I got that too. I worked hard for Merkley, and I responded to that message with a giant 'hell no'. Reid opposes my civil rights, and has fucked up everything he has done. I hope Merkley learns to do better, and quickly. Money for Reid is out of the question. Who has money to give anyway?

Read the other day that both Merkley and Wyden got major contributions from Madoff. I'm not donating to Reid either until he grows a pair.
