*sigh* I wish I could adopt this beautiful kitty at the Animal Aid shelter in Portland:

Her name is Moxie and she is four years old, with no health problems. I met her in person once and she's gorgeous. We already have three indoor kitties (and a bunny) and we will probably get my in-laws two kitties before too long (in-laws are getting a little too frail to take care of kitties). So, we just don't have room now. But ... darn it. I can't stop thinking of her. "Beautiful Moxie is not sure how she ended up at a shelter. It’s full of cats she doesn’t know and she clearly doesn’t belong here. She thinks there must be some mistake. She is trying to make the most of it by gently playing with a string toy, but clearly her heart isn’t in it. She loves people and if you sit down for even a second, Moxie will hop in your lap and look up at you as if to say, 'please take me home.'"

1. She's beautiful.

I won't adopt any more cats until I can figure out how to keep them from getting out the doggie door.

I adopted 2 feral kittens a few years ago, but lost them to birds of prey. :(

My older cat seems to know how to stay out of the line of fire. She's 9 now. No more, though, until I can figure out how to keep them safe.

2. Sorry about your kittens. :-(

People lose a lot of kitties to coyotes around here (even though we're in Portland city limits). Ours are all indoor kitties, but sometimes I feel sorry that they don't go outside. I try to open the windows as much as possible to get the breeze flowing through the screens for them, and I put out seeds and nuts so the birds and squirrels come by to entertain them.

4. If I ever get a new cat,

I will have to figure out a way to keep it indoors.

That means no doggie door, since they quickly figure out how to use it. I could leave my dog outside while I'm gone, but it gets REALLY cold up here fall through spring.

Meanwhile, my 8 year old kitty knows her way around, and I'm grateful for that.

This kitty, Tango, is also in my thoughts. He's such a sweet, handsome nice guy and he deserves a home. He's 15 or so ... :cry:
