KRKT turning to talk radio

Starting on Monday, KRKT 990 AM will switch from its classic country music format to airing "progressive" talk show programs, according to station manager Larry Rogers.

The program personalities will counter the more conservative lineup of Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage and Lars Larson featured on sister station KLOO 1340 AM.

KRKT's new slogan is "AM 990, The Truth," he said. The station will feature programming from Air America, which is less than a year old and originates on the East Coast.

More and more stations are converting their formats to liberal talk, it's proving to be a winner.
