I just got a recorded call from Wyden. If you're phone banking or canvassing, you can offer to pick up ballots. There is also a hotline for any help you need, 1-877-640-8811. I think they're mostly looking for voter fraud problems, but they will put you in touch with the local campaign office too. Although mine has an answering machine instead of a person. I've got an email in on that too. WTF?? I know they're busy but damn, get more volunteers and answer the freakin' phone!! (Am I wrong on that?)

It said that they can open the ballots 1 week before and there
was concern that corrupt local election officals would
make the ballot an overvote by filling in the bush oval
and other things.

Does anyone know anything about this and what are the safeguards
to accurately count the ballots that have already been turned in?

I live in a very small town (< 500) where my ballot sits
in a small town hall in a box with a padlock on it.

Makes me extremely nervous for this town is corrupt as hell.
