<snip> One of last year's victims was Khamphay Salienkham, 37, a construction worker confronted by four men as he was taking out the trash on Aug. 23 in South Philadelphia. Beaten and shot three times, he spent two weeks in the hospital and then moved to his sister's Lancaster County home.
"I had to get away," Salienkham said. He said he still comes to Philadelphia to visit family members, but does not stay long. "I'm scared," he said.
