So Michael Nutter is going to be the next Mayor of Philadelphia |
|
I know the election isn't until November, but whoever the Republican is that's running almost definitely won't win.
I'm not old enough to vote nor would I be able to vote in the Philadelphia Mayoral Primary so I haven't been on top of this race like I have others in the past. What does everyone think of Nutter? I know he ran saying he was a Democrat who opposed much of what Street has done as Mayor, which is probably a good thing. But was he the best of the Dems, in your opinion?

1. I think he was the smartest, and ran the smartest campaign... |
|
He could be a gadfly in City Council and I worried at the beginning of the Mayoral race that he wasn't the most positive candidate, kind of a sourpuss, not that great for the Mayor's leadership role in city cheerleading functions. But he was quite positive, sensible and impresively intelligent talking about the Mayor's job..his campaign was really beautifully done and he surged at just the right time.
So I'm one happy Philadelphian.

3. i didn't vote for him... |
|
because I think he's stubborn, difficult, and has built his political career by fighting the easy fight to score political points.
I'm also not a big supporter of some of the ethics legislation and campaign finance limits he pressed for. The Tom Knox Effect is a prime example of how finance limits can hurt the political process more than help it, and I think it's ridiculous that candidates in one of the nation's most expensive media markets have to be on the phone all day every day trying to solicity $250 contributions in order to compete. There's better things they can be doing with that time and energy.
I voted for Evans, but I knew he wouldn't win.
