Rendell signs death warrant in city murder case

Gov. Ed Rendell signed the death warrant Tuesday for a man who participated in the 1995 murder of an Allentown landlord.

Edwin Rios Romero, 43, who strangled David Bolasky on Jan. 3, 1995, in Allentown, is scheduled to die by lethal injection on March 25.

Romero and three other men robbed, beat and strangled Bolasky when he went to the home of one of the men to collect rent.

Three days later, police found Bolasky's body in a wooded area near a secluded road. On March 19, 1996, a jury found Romero guilty of first-degree murder, robbery and theft by unlawful taking, and sentenced him to death.
