The two Democratic presidential candidates are expected to appear in Pittsburgh Monday for a forum on trade and manufacturing job losses.
The event at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center is sponsored by the Alliance for American Manufacturing, an officially non-partisan partnership of the United Steelworkers and manufacturers including U.S. Steel and Allegheny Technologies.
A spokesman for the alliance said that both Democrats had confirmed their plans to attend although the campaigns themselves did not immediately confirm the scheduling. Steven Capozzola, a spokesman for AAM, said the group had also invited Republican Sen. John S. McCain to the event but he was not able to attend because of a scheduling conflict.
Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are slated for separate appearances at the event, which is not open to the public.
