"When the next criminal charges come in a public corruption investigation of the Legislature, they will "shock the conscience of people" because of the staggering amount of tax money involved, Attorney General Tom Corbett said Thursday.
"You will be stunned," he told the Tribune-Review. "It's the amount of money involved."
The grand jury investigation is proceeding more smoothly than it did a few months ago, since House Republicans agreed to turn over certain records, Corbett said in an interview before he testified to the House Appropriations Committee about his office's budget.
The grand jury process is secret and it's not known where the investigation is headed, although it has focused for six months on the House Republican Caucus. It's believed to involve information technology contracts, among other items."
