Natural gas drillers in Pennsylvania are looking to face tougher regulations on waste water after a state regulations committee voted on Thursday to enact the new measures.
The Independent Regulatory Review Committee voted four to one to approved the regulations that aim to reduce the amount of toxic chemicals released into Pennsylvania waterways by natural gas producers
Debate at the four-hour committee meeting focused around the difficulty in enacting the regulations, the economic impact to current businesses, discouragement of growth with Marcellus Shale drilling and the clarity in the language of the amendment.
