1. Has happened in the past in PA. |
|
A few years ago, PA. told state employees that future retirees were going to see benefits reductions. A large number of state employees who were eligible to retire took retirement in order to keep their current benefits.

note that our own Democrat Ed Rendell was the governor who made that happen - he has NEVER spared the working people if he could appear save a buck by squeezing them, not as mayor or as governor.
Rendell's government gave us (AFSCME) the hardest contract negotiations in all the years we have ben unionized. Everything was re-negotiated, and we lost on most of it.
We did much better under Tom Ridge, as much as I hate to say it.
Rendell talks the good talk, but treats workers like expendable shit and braggs about it to business...He has a web site that praised PA for having the second lowest paid social service/public service workers in the US, ahead only of Alabama, and how hard he makes them work for their benefits and meage pay. He has another web site bragging about how wondrful he is...ALL public employees get that every month.
I am afraid a new republican governor will make Rendell look good.

3. It's nice to read an honest post at DU. |
|
I can't recall the last time I saw that.
I would also add that plenty of Dems could care less if the this happened in PA because not every Dem works for the state, and as such, thinks their job security shouldn't be any more stable than those of us in the private sector. It may sound harsh, but that is my assessment of the situation.
I'm looking forward to Rendell being out. It seems like he has been govnr forever. Besides slot machines, I'm not too impressed with him.
