Joseph-Beth Booksellers will close its store at the SouthSide Works later this month, according to an announcement from the Cincinnati, Ohio, company.
The company's release said "the continuing weak economy and resulting sales decline, coupled with economic forecasts for the first half of 2011" have been challenging to Joseph-Beth, in addition to other retailers.
"We want to thank the Pittsburgh community for their support of Joseph-Beth Booksellers and for their future support of independent book retailers in the community," said Neil Van Uum, the owner of the Joseph-Beth Group, in a prepared statement.
The store on South 27th Street will hold sales to clear out inventory.
