BEAUFORT -- An emotionally charged Benjamin Schwartz took center stage at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park pavilion Saturday evening at the Beaufort County Democratic Party's annual fish fry.
The 32-year-old real estate broker who's running for the S.C. House of Representatives District 124 seat against Republican incumbent Catherine Ceips told a group of hundreds that it's time for a change.

"This year," he said, "the Republican-led legislature cut education spending by a quarter of a billion dollars ... that's unacceptable."
