whats with all the daschlebashing crap in GD? |
|
those idiots dont know waht the fuck they are talking about when they slam daschle. sure he needs to keep it tame... but thats what helps with winning supports of moderates/swing voters. not to mention keeping his job.
they dont know what they are doing. they arent from SD... they know nothing about what kinda crap he has to go through to keep that job.
i hope daschle gets his investigation into those memos he wanted, then they can be proven true... and it will be all over all the networks. free advertising. is there any better kind?

I do agree that (as I said of Stephanie Herseth when some one accused her of being a moderate, but it applies to the entire South Dakota Democratic congressional delegation including Daschle), "Of course she is. If she wasn't a moderate she couldn't have gotten elected." I frequently wish the entire South Dakota delegation were a little bit more feisty and willing to stand up to the Bushies. But in fact, with regard to such issues as judicial appointments (and some other issues), Daschle has stood up to the Bush Administration.
Attacking them for their imperfections is akin to supporting Nadar. They are all greatly to be preferred to the Republicans that have run against them, and are running against them.
I'm not about to bash any of them, indeed, I'm actively contributing to and working for Daschle and Herseth, and despite their imperfections I certainly hope they win--preferably big, but in fact I believe that they will be two close races.

2. most Democrats want Daschle to remain our Senate leader.. |
|
if he isn't that would only occur because he lost!
Tom Daschle worked well with Clinton when Democrats were in the minority, but since Clinton left office Bush's tax cuts passed the Senate even with the Democrats as the majority. Daschle was highly ineffective at holding together the party in the fight against *'s tax cuts! If those tax cuts had not passed Kerry would not be faced next term with a huge budget crisis, possibly being blamed for repealing Bush's tax cuts, or to most swing voters, a tax increase! Another option to Kerry would be to cut government spending until the Bush tax cuts phased out. This would result in criticism of Kerry as weak on defense, or as an ineffective in the War on Terrorism. It may also result in some highly unpopular tax increases or spending cuts on Social Security and Medicare.
I believe that Daschle would be highly effective as the Democratic Leader if working with President Kerry. But if Kerry doesn't win, Daschle must go! Daschle works great when somebody else is setting the agenda, but he is the worst thing for our party when a Republican is President!
I hope Daschle does win this election, but I want Kerry to win even more! Without a Democrat as President, I fear a Daschle victory could become a curse for the Democratic Party.

3. New here .. and confused |

I think the Daschle bashing is coming from the frustration of what has he really done in South Dakota? The only thing that they can bring up is what he has done in the last 6 or 7 weeks. I have voted for Daschle in the past, but now I am not sure. I found this website hoping someone can give me some good reasons why I should vote for him next Tuesday.
From a South Dakotan's eyes.. it seems like the only time Tom gets anything done is around election time.
Please help.

I also have been frustrated by Daschle's failure to oppose the Bush Administration on some things. But then he did oppose the Bush administration on some truly obnoxious judicial appointments, and won, and I was encouraged.
He has also opposed the Bush administration on cutting veteran's benefits.
He has stood up for Native Americans in South Dakota.
And he has, to my mind, been more honest than John Thune.
I'm strongly supporting Daschle this year.
