I just sent the following email to Stephanie Herseth:


Dear Ms. Herseth:

I believe the time has come forward for you to step up and be counted. I realize that this cannot be easy for a moderate Democrat from a predominately Republican state, but the time has come.

You have stated in your fundraising literature that the Republicans will visciously attack you in the 2006 race. Indeed they will. You are not the only one the neoconservatives have been visciously and mendaciously attacking.

Please, it is time to stand up to them. If you cannot move yourself to immediately sign John Conyer's letter, then please assign a trusted staff member to research its merits. I believe you will find good cause to sign.

Again, please, I'd like to speak on your behalf as someone that I am proud to have representing me again, rather than--as I have recently found myself speaking on your behalf--as the lesser of two evils.
