Republican lawmakers urge shift in U.S. Iraq plans.... |
|
"I voted for the resolution to commit the troops, and I feel that we've done about as much as we can do."
"The reason of going in for weapons of mass destruction, the ability of the Iraqis to make a nuclear weapon, that's all been proven that it was never there," he said.
The he is Rep. Walter Jones, a NC conservative, Mr. "freedom fries" himself. Jones joins some of Congress' most liberal Democrats in demanding a deadline to withdraw troops from a conflict they said has been too costly in U.S. lives and money.
Please explain to me why congressman Ford isn't also coming out now and calling Bush** the liar that he is, and why does he still seem supportive of the decision to go into Iraq in the first place and to stay there?
This isn't going to go away and I can't see very many people who oppose this war and who detest the lies that got us into this mess giving the congressman a pass on this.
So again why? Is it because he still thinks invading Iraq was the right decision? Is it because Bush** is supposedly popular in TN? Could it be that if someone were pointing out the lies of Bush** and offering a clear alternative then maybe the supposedly popular worst pResident ever might not be so popular?
I can't see that people who participate in groups such as United for Justice and Peace, Code Pink, Women in Black, some of the Veterans Against the War, repubs who were frustrated with Bush** prior to the '04 election and didn't see a clear enough alternative (in their view anyway) to vote for Kerry, and others are going to give the congressman a pass on this, unless they think that he can be pressured after his election.
I really don't think that this is going to go away, and strong feelings about Iraq are going to intensify the longer the occupation continues and the death toll climbs. Bush**'s falling poll numbers are indicative of this.
