Chattanooga may be getting AAR affiliate
The city's oldest radio station, WDOD (1310 AM), may be changing formats soon - possibly moving to a liberal talk format.

Gary Downs, general manager, said it has become more difficult to sell advertising for the "nostalgia" music now played on the "Music Of Your Life" format.

He said station officials have been looking at other formats, but no changes have yet been implemented.

Mr. Downs said, "Right now we are playing Music of Your Life. I can't say that will be the case a month from now."

1. Seriously?!
I live in Chattanooga and would LOVE THIS!!! My town can go either way politically. In 1997-2001 we had a democratic mayor, 2001-2005 we had a republican and now we have an indie. I'm very excited that my town will have AAR! Hurray!

2. Please let this come to pass!!!
Talk 102.3, (WGOW and part of the Citadel Broadcasting Corp.) hired a longtime area resident who is a progressive to fill the FM afternoon slot from 1-4. He was hired a few months prior to the Nov. election and hit local news and actually laid out the facts about Bush**. The local wingnuts went berserk even though they could listen to Limbaugh during the same time on the AM dial.

He was forced to change his show post-election and he was still doing some news, but mostly fluff and the corporate heads were still raising hell with him. He was fired a couple of weeks ago and the corporate heads decided to put Limpballs on the FM dial during this time slot and replaced him on the AM dial with Glenn Beck. Some of us locals have called and raised cane. I think that I'll be calling locally and to the NY office again, and just tell them that it's looking like I won't have to shell out any money for that satellite radio afterall! And that I will continue to boycott their advertisers, etc.

3. I'm excited about this too!

My dad was listening to Rush on the way to my grandfather's visit and I thought I was going to puke, but luckily I had my ipod with me so I could listen to a Rhandi archive I hadn't listened to yet. Heh. But I'm glad for this cause I can flip it onto AAR when I'm in the car or something. :D That sucks about the progressive guy. Can't take some heat can they? :eyes: So immature. They think they own the airwaves but with the success of AAR they obviously can't hold us back either. We deserve to have progressives as well. So they did bring that guy back? I haven't ever heard him before. Is there a site where I can hear him online? I love to listen while I'm on the computer. Oh and it looks like all those critics were wrong about AAR not being anything. There are obviously enough people listening for MY town to get AAR.

4. So you wanna help out with any phone calling or other activities?
Like calling the locals at WGOW and complaining? Like calling the NY office? Like dying white t-shirts brown with tea and mailing them to the locals along with quotes about dissent, free speach, etc.?

Other things that I won't post here?

6. Refer to post #2. Some of us have been calling to voice our
displeasure with this management decision locally (WGOW radio) and to Citadel's office in NY.
