1. Frist is formidable.

He seems to have good standing here but I attribute that to a lack of public focus on him.
It is risky of him to do anything controversial because people will start to see that he is not the humble doctor he appears to be.
The same thing has happened to bush already.

We should probably be preparing to dispel that image at the appropriate time with a comprehensive look at his voting record.
He could be worse than bush if he gains the presidency!

2. First needs to be careful...

I get the impression that Frist is putting too many of his dogs to hunting the same raccoon. By openly bashing other candidates (namely Kerry) and critics of the Bush Administration (remember his remarks about Clark?) on the open Senate floor, and then in an unprecedented move campaigning against Daschle in SD... he runs the risk of appearing to be nothing but a GOP lackey and close ally of the Bush doctrine. This could be dangerous for his political future because I sense a rapid "back turning" by the country on the current Administration's agenda. The republican's that have stubbornly fought to defend Bush and attack his "enemies" are going to be bailing water from their own boats soon enough.

He's popular here in Tenn, largely because of the lack of any real focus or scrutiny on him, but he's a young, attractive, well spoken, religious Republican.. and those are ingredients that make up a successful elected official in much of our state. I still get the impression that most people have a luke warm response to him here in Tenn. What has he done for our state since he's become Majority Leader?

He would have no chance as a presidential candidate, especially if he found himself in a primary race against McCain. Then again, they'd just call all the voters in SC and tell them about McCain's "illegitimate black child" through more push polling.
